UMD Bulldogs "Allete" Moments: Competition
Throughout this year UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, Allete to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community.
UMD quarterback
John Larson has been named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday afternoon. Larson receives the award after throwing for six touchdowns and a total of 447 yards during the Bulldog's 41-14 victory over Upper Iowa on Thursday evening.
Larson's six touchdowns tied him with Ted Schlafke for the most passing TDs in a single game in school history. Additionally, Larson's 447 passing yards was just 10 yards short of the program record of 457 yards, also held by Schlafke. On the day, Larson was 22 for 33, and failed to throw an interception. Larson capped off his impressive day by connecting with wide receiver
Armani Carmickle for an 84-yard touchdown
Larson's offensive performance helped the Bulldogs to their first win of the year, and a 1-0 overall record. As a team, UMD posted 530 yards of total offense, while only surrendering 304 yards to the Peacocks.
Coming into the 2021 season, Larson was one the NSIC's Preseason Offensive Players to Watch. UMD will be back in action at 6:05 PM on Saturday, September 11 as they host Minnesota State-Mankato.
