NO. 11 MEN'S BASKETBALL DOMINATE AT HOME, IMPROVE TO 19-2

Duluth, Minn. – The No. 11 Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs hosted Sioux Falls on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs were led by big nights from Andrews and Blair as they went on to win 98-64. The No. 11 Bulldogs improve to 19-2 (12-2) on the season and remain undefeated at home.  
 
Much like their start last night against Southwest Minnesota State, the Bulldogs started hot from the offensive end of the floor. After back-to-back possessions with a layup from Austin Andrews and Charlie Katona, Joshua Brown got the Bulldogs started from deep with a three-pointer as they took an early 7-2 lead. From there, the Bulldogs continued their hot start as Drew Blair stayed hot from three-point range with back-to-back three-pointers to extend their lead to 16-4 with 16:58 remaining in the half. From there, the Cougars responded and cut the Bulldogs lead to 7 points as the Bulldogs led 18-11. The Bulldogs once again began to extend their lead, this time, with a big run. The Bulldogs went on a 18-2 to take a commanding 36-13 first half lead with 9:40 remaining. The run was a balanced attack as 6 different Bulldogs scored during the run. The Bulldogs did not stop there as they continued their hot shooting for the remainder of the half. Drew Blair stayed hot from three as he once again hit back-to-back threes to give the Bulldogs a 51-22 lead with 3:13 remaining in the first half. From there, the Bulldogs continued to stay hot down the stretch as they took a 54-29 halftime lead. Drew Blair was hot in the first half as he was 5-9 from three-point range and had 23 first half points. The Bulldogs shot 17-29 (58.6%) from the field and 8-13 (61.5%) from three-point range in the first half. The Cougars shot 11-29 (37.9%) from the field and 3-11 (27.3%) from three-point range in the first half.
 
To start the second half, the Cougars started the scoring with a basket on their first few possessions. Austin Andrews responded with a few baskets of his own, followed by a Blair layup. From there, teams traded baskets to begin the half as the Bulldogs could not extend their lead. An Austin Andrews layup gave the Bulldogs a 66-37 lead with 15:10 remaining in the game. The Bulldogs managed to extend their lead to 73-44 thanks to back-to-back dunks from Austin Andrews and Joshua Brown. The Bulldogs controlled the remainder of the game as they had a comfortable lead the whole second half. The Bulldogs offense stayed hot throughout the half as they maintained control of the game. The Bulldogs defense also played big throughout as they did not allow the Cougars to get in any rhythm on the offensive end of the floor. The Bulldogs held of Sioux Falls as they went on to win the game 98-64. Austin Andrews had a big 2nd half with 15 points for the Bulldogs as they shot 16-31 (51.6%) from the field and 1-5 (20%) from three-point range. The Cougars shot 13-38 (34.2%) from the field and 5-20 (25%) from three-point range.
 
The Bulldogs were led by Drew Blair who had 33 points on the night, tied for a career high. Austin Andrews also added 22 points on the night. Andrews tallied 10 rebounds for another double-double on the night. Jack Middleton led the team with 5 assists on the night. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 33-60 (55%) from the field and 9-18 (50 %) from three-point range. They also shot 23-26 (88.5%) from the foul line on the night.
The Cougars were led by Luke Healy who had 16 points on the night while Jack Cartwright added 15 points of his own. Noah Puetz and Chase Grinde led the team with 3 assists on the night. Overall, the Cougars shot 24-67 (35.8%) from the field and 8-31 (25.8%) from three-point range on the night. They also shot 8-13 from the foul line.
 
Who's Next:
The No. 11 Bulldogs will be back at home next weekend as they will host Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday February 4th at 7:30 PM. They will then host Northern State on Saturday February 5th at 5:30 PM for senior day.
