NO. 13 MEN'S BASKETBALL WINS WIRE-TO-WIRE SESAON FINALE

Crookston, Minn. – The No. 13 Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs traveled to face the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs controlled the game the entire way as they went on to win 91-53. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 23-4 (16-4) on the season.
 
The Bulldogs started off strong in the first half as the Golden Eagles had no answer as the Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead thanks to a Joshua Brown three-pointer. They continued to keep up the pressure on the Golden Eagles as UMC could not get into a rhythm on the offensive end of the floor. A layup from Lincoln Meister gave the Bulldogs a 17-6 lead with 11:33 remaining in the first half. Down the stretch of the first half, the Bulldogs kept up the pressure as they continued to control the game. A Drew Blair layup extended the Bulldogs lead to 32-14 with 3:56 remaining in the first half. Blair hit a three-pointer down the stretch as well as the Bulldogs took a 37-21 halftime lead.
 
Austin Andrews started the scoring for the Bulldogs with a early layup in the second half. From there, Jack Middleton took over as he scored on four of the next five possessions, which included a three-pointer to give the Bulldogs a 49-31 lead with 15:47 remaining. The Bulldogs offense continued to pour it on as they got four straight baskets from their bench, which included two Joshua Strong three-pointers.  Strong continued his hot shooting as he scored on back to back possessions later in the half to once again extend their lead. From there, the Bulldogs were able to rest their starters with strong control over the game. The Bulldogs bench continued the hot shooting as Jacob Shields and Zach Lea both added three-pointers for the Bulldogs. As the game was winding down, Lincoln Meister added the exclamation point to the Bulldogs victory as he hit his first three pointer of the season, on a play that Meister turned into a four point play. The Bulldogs dominated the Golden Eagles in what was a balanced scoring attack as they went on to win 91-53.
 
The Bulldogs were led by Joshua Brown and Jack Middleton who both had 16 points. Charlie Katona added 12 points on the night while Joshua Strong and Jacob Shields added 11 and 10 points respectively off the bench. Lincoln Meister led the team with 7 rebounds on the night as Drew Blair and Austin Andrews led the team with 3 assists each. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 34-63 (54%) from the field and 13-31 (41.9%) from three-point range. They also shot 10-13 from the foul line.
 
The Golden Eagles were led by Leonard Dixon who had 13 points. Zach Westphal led the team with 8 rebounds on the night. Overall, the Golden Eagles shot 19-64 (29.7%) from the field and 6-29 (20.7%) from three-point range. They also shot 9-12 from the foul line.

The No.13 Bulldogs secured a first round bye of the NSIC tournament and will play at 11:00 am on Saturday November 26 in Sioux Falls.
