MEN'S TRACK & FIELD HEAD SOUTH FOR TED NELSON CLASSIC

On Saturday afternoon in Mankato, Minn. the Minnesota Duluth men's track & field team posted six top five finishers at the Ted Nelson Classic. The Bulldogs battled against a range of teams including NSIC rivals Minnesota State, Mankato and Augustana (SD).

"We rested a good portion of our team and had a couple stand out performances," said Head Coach Karly Brautigam. "Colton Kostynick had a great day in throws with a PR in weigh and Matt Caines posted a really competitive NSIC triple jump mark. Highlights from the men's side definitely include a provisional mark from Christian Leonard in the mile."

We'll start on the track. In the men's 3000 meter run, Braydon Kubat turned in an impressive mark of 8:58.17 to take second-place on the leaderboard. In the one mile run, Chrisitan Leonard's mark of 4:12.68 was good enough for third-place and a podium finish. Jordan Gruenes took fifth in the men's 600 meter run after he tallied a time of 1:27.47. UMD also received a fifth-place finish from Finn Youberg, who notched a time of 2:01.20 in the 800 meter run.

In the field, Colton Kostynick registered a distance of 16.16m in the shot put to earn himself a third-place finish on the leaderboard. Also showing up in the field was UMD's Mathew Caines, who turned in a distance of 13.89m in the triple jump to garner a third-place finish as well.
