Duluth, Minn. -- The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs hosted the Winona State Warriors in game one of their three-game series. Despite a late comeback attempt, the Bulldogs lost their home opener 6-3. 

In what was a pitchers dual early, neither team could get on the board in the first three innings. The Warriors changed that in the top of the 4th inning as they managed to score two runs in the inning. From there, neither team would score again until a single in the top of the 7th brought across another run for the Warriors to make it a 3-0 game. Jack Puder responded in the bottom of the 7th with a RBI single to right field that scored Brodie Paulson. The Warriors responded right back in the 8th inning as they managed to score 3 more runs in the inning to make it a 6-1 lead. A pair of singles from Brodie Paulson and Alex Watterman brought in a pair of runs to cut the Bulldogs deficit down to 3 runs. The Bulldogs were unable to continue their rally in the bottom of the 9th as they went on to lose 6-3. 

Tim Pokornowski went 3-4 on the day with a pair of runs. Brandt Kolpack went 2-4 on the day, while Paulson, Wattermann and Puder each had an RBI. Nicolas Herold picked up the win for the Warriors after going 7.0 innings and tallying 11 strikeouts. 

The Bulldogs and Warriors will be back in action tomorrow for a doubleheader. Game one will start at 10:30 AM.
