BASEBALL DROPS DOUBLEHEADER TO HUSKIES

St. Cloud, Minn. -- The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs traveled to face off against the St. Cloud Huskies on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs went on to lose both games as they lost game one 3-0 and lost game two 9-2. 

Game One: 
Both teams were engaged in a pitchers duel as neither team could get on the scoreboard to start the game. The Huskies got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning thanks to a single to left field. They added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning off of a pair of singles to increase their lead to 3-0. The Bulldogs struggled on the offensive side as they did not tally a hit during game one as they lost game one of game one 3-0. 

Isaac Benesh got the start for the Bulldogs as he went 4.2 innings and allowed just one run and struck out one batter. The Huskies Trevor Koenig went 7.0 innings and struck out 5 batters while not allowing a hit. 

Game Two:
The Huskies got the scoring started in the bottom of the second inning as they singled in a run to take a early 1-0 lead. The Huskies got back on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 4th inning as they scored a run on a wild pitch, followed by a single to center field to jump to a 3-0 lead. Jack Puder got the Bulldogs on the board in the top of the fifth inning thanks to a single to right field that scored Alex Wattermann. The Huskies answered in the bottom of the fifth with four runs to take a 7-1 lead. The Huskies added to their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after a single to left field scored two runs to make it a 9-2 Huskies lead. Tim Pokornowski hit a home run to left field to make it a 9-2 game. The Bulldogs could not shorten the Huskies lead as they lost game two 9-2. 

Tim Pokornowski went 1-3 in game two with a home run and a walk. Jack Puder tallied a hit and a RBI. Ben Reilly went 4.1 innings while allowing 4 hits and 4 earned runs while striking out 2 batters. Sam Riola got the win for the Huskies and went 5.0 innings while giving up 2 hits and 1 earned run while also striking out 8 batters.
