BASEBALL USES TWO LATE RALLIES AS THEY SWEEP DOUBLEHEADER

Duluth, Minn. -- The Minnesota Duluth Bullogs hosted the Minot State Beavers on Sunday afternoon for Senior Day. The Bulldogs used a pair of late rallies to win game one 7-6 and win game two 3-2. 

Game One: 
After a scoreless first inning, the Beavers got the scoring started in the top of the fifth inning as they scored 5 runs in the inning off of a trio of singles and a error by the Bulldogs as they took a early 5-0 lead. The Bulldogs answered in the bottom of the second inning as Brandt Kolpack singled to center field to score Jack Puder and Brodie Paulson to make it a 5-2 game. The Beavers added another run in the top of the third inning to increase their lead to 6-2. After the third inning, Ben Sheppard settled down and was stellar on the mound for the Bulldogs the remainder of the game as he only allowed two hits, one walk and struck out three the rest of the game. The Bulldogs offense began their rally in the bottom of the fourth inning as Jack Puder doubled to left center to score Alex Wattermann. Tim Pokornowski drove in Trevor Gustafson in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut their deficit to 6-4. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Tosten Mann singled up the middle to score August Brown. Tim Pokornowski followed that up with a double to left center that scored Tosten Mann and Brandt Kolpack to take a 7-6 lead. From there, the Bulldogs defense managed to close out the game as they won game one 7-6. 

Jack Puder went 2-3 in game one with a RBI and a run. Tim Pokornowski tallied 3 RBI's on the day while Brandt Kolpack added 2 RBI's of his own. Ben Sheppard got the start for the Bulldogs and went 6.2 innings while striking out 7. Alex Wattermann tallied his fifth save of the season in relief of Sheppard. 

Game Two: 
Game two started as a pitchers duel as neither team managed to score in the first five innings. The Beavers got the scoring started in the top of the 6th inning off of a triple to right center to make it a 1-0 game. They added to their lead in the top of the 8th inning off of a double to center field to make it a 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs offense once again rallied late as Brodie Paulson doubled to center field to score Trevor Gustafson. Alex Wattermann doubled down the right field line to score Brodie Paulson. Ethan Cole singled to left center as Wattermann would score the go-ahead run. Alex Wattermann came into the game once again to close the game for the Bulldogs and after allowing a leadoff double, Wattermann was able to get the Bulldogs out of the jam thanks to a heads up play at first base from Brodie Paulson, followed up by a double play to seal the game, as the Bulldogs won 3-2. 

Chad Fox started for the Bulldogs and had one of his best outtings of the season as he went 6.0 innings, game up just 4 hits, 1 earned run and struck out 5 batters. Trevor Gustafson went 3-3 in game two with a pair of doubles. Ethan Cole and Alex Wattermann both went 2-4 on the day with a RBI and a double. Zach Kuseske tallied the win for the Bulldogs in 0.2 innings of relief work, while Alex Wattermann tallied his second save of the day and 6th of the season. 

The Bulldogs and Beavers will wrap up their three-game series tomorrow with first pitch at 10:00 AM at Wade Stadium.
