#9 BULLDOGS LOCKED IN FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT NSIC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The University of Minnesota Duluth women's basketball team is set to take on Minnesota State in tomorrow's NSIC Championship game. This will be the fifth straight championship game for the Bulldogs. 

 

The Bulldogs, fresh off their dominating win over Augustana, have now been to five straight NSIC championships. The Bulldogs move to a 26-3 overall record and have increased their total points on the season to 2041. UMD currently ranks fifth in NCAA DII in field goals and first in the NSIC with a .474 percentage. UMD's defense is currently ranked 8th in NCAA DII and first in the NSIC only allowing 55.2 points per game. 

 

Brooke Olson will lead the charge for the Bulldogs, scoring 25 points against Augustana in the Semifinals. Olson is first in the NSIC for points scored and second in NCAA DII. The Bulldogs will also look to juniors Taya Hakamaki and Ella Gilbertson who both had 14 points and three assists against the Vikings. 

 

Mankato, the number one seed in the NSIC South, is fresh off their semifinal round where they dominated the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State 100-82. Top scorers for the Mavericks were Joey Batt, the NSIC defensive player of the year, and Natalie Bremer. 

 

Tip off is set for 4:00 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD.
