UMD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BOOSTS UP TO NO. 12 IN WBCA RANKS, STAYS AT NO. 6 IN D2SIDA POLL

The University of Minnesota Duluth women's basketball team has risen in the WBCA ranks once again, bumping from No. 16 to No. 12 in the latest poll released on Tuesday. UMD sits at a tie for the position with Colorado School of Mines (19-3) of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).

The Bulldogs get back to their ways of climbing the national charts after having fallen from No. 10 to No. 16 in last week's edition of the WBCA Rankings. That earlier No. 10 mark was UMD's debut in the national top 10 this season and holds as its peak ranking on the year thus far.

Speaking of peaks, the Bulldogs maintained their season-high standing of No. 6 in the newest D2SIDA Media Poll. In the D2SIDA's regional rankings, however, UMD saw some uptick- the Bulldogs currently reside in the No. 1 spot of the Central once again after having fallen back down to No. 2 last week. UMD received four of the possible six first place votes within the region.

The Bulldogs are coming off of quite the weekend, one that saw them sweep their road slate of MSU Moorhead and Northern State on the path to clinching the NSIC North Championship (for the fourth straight time) with four games still to play. Taytum Rhoades even passed 500 career points along the way.

The light at the end of the tunnel for UMD now glistens off of the NSIC Championship trophy. The Bulldogs' path towards that goal will start with a two-game homestand this weekend featuring rematches against Mary on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Minot State on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m.
