MATCH vs. Bemidji State
The first match of the two-match weekend for the Bulldogs is against the Bemidji State Beavers on March 17, 2023, at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
A LOOK BACK
The Bulldogs have already played the Beavers this season, winning that match with a final score of 6-1. After this defeat from the Bulldogs, the Beavers haven't been looking the best. They have only won one of their last five, and hope to give the 'Dogs a fight. The Bulldogs' home record against the Beavers is 4-1, and UMD will be looking for another win in the books.
Olivia Honsey, No. 6 singles, has this to say going into the weekend, "We're pumped and ready to play both matches at home this weekend. We've been pushing each other on and off the cour to better ourselves and the team. We're very excited to compete!"
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
The Beavers haven't had a very good start to the season. With a record of 2-7 and a conference record of 1-2, Bemidji is looking to find a spark in their game. The place where they'll be able to find this spark is at their No. 2 singles position. Nicoleta Anestiadi currently has a 6-3 overall record at the No. 2 (3-3) and No. 3 (3-0) singles position. Anestiadi is the only singles player on the Beavers to have a positive record but goes into this week's matches with her most recent match being a loss.
MATCH vs. Minnesota Crookston
The final match of the two-match weekend for the Bulldogs is against the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles on March 18, 2023, at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
A LOOK BACK
The Bulldogs currently have a seven-match win streak against Crookston, dating back all the way to 2015. In the past seven years, the closest a match has been against Crookston was a 5-2 win last year. Though the Golden Eagles haven't looked like the best team in their past, they've been on a tear this year.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
It's a much different season for Crookston. The Golden Eagles' current record is 7-2 with a conference record of 2-1. The best season that Crookston has ever had before this season was back in 2011. In that 2011 season, they posted an overall record of 4-11. This season for the Golden Eagles is pretty much the opposite of what we've seen from them in their past, and will be a hard matchup for the 'Dogs on Saturday. One of the players that stand out on Crookston's team is their No. 1 singles player, Madelaine Schneider. Schneider currently holds a 6-1 record at the one position, with a 4-3 record in doubles.
