Schuler Signs Five to First UMD Women’s Hockey Signing Class

University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey coach Laura Schuler and her staff have announced five signees to their class of 2025 Tuesday, Schuler's first as the Bulldogs bench boss.

The class includes forwards Madison Burr (Brantford, Ontario), Molly Cole (Langley, British Columbia), Rae Mayer (Chesapeake, Virginia), Ella Pukala (Arlington Heights, Illinois) and defenseman Linnea Natt och Dag (Stockholm, Sweden).

"We are thrilled to announce our signees for the class of 2025", said Schuler. "This talented group includes athletes that have competed for their respective national teams, participated in multiple national team development camps, and are all part of successful hockey programs leading into their college career.  Beyond their impressive accomplishments on the ice, we are equally excited to welcome individuals who will contribute to and uphold the positive culture that defines our program. We can't wait for them to join us at UMD and become a part of the incredible legacy of growth, development, and success that this program has built and will continue to build in the future."

Mayer, a 5'8" forward, will become the first-ever player from the state of Virginia, and made the U18 U.S. National Summer Series Team last year and participated in the U.S Hockey Women's Festival. A two-time selection to the USA Hockey National U18 Select Camp, Mayer was a U15 U.S. Hockey Player Development Camp invitee and a member of Central District camps. Mayer currently skates with the Bishop Kearney Select 19U AAA team, a program she has been part of for years.

Cole, a 5'7" forward, has been on the British Columbia U18 Team for the past two seasons, where she won gold last year and a bronze medal. Previously, she spent her past five years at the Delta Hockey Academy. She spent her first two years on the U17 team, playing in 34 games racking up a total of 23 points. After that, Cole joined the U18 team where she currently is playing, and has 15 points in just 10 total games so far this season.

Burr, a 5'8" forward from Brantford, ON, was part of the Canadian National Women's Under-18 Team Selection Camp the past two summers (along with current Bulldogs Caitlin Kramer and Reece Logan), and also made the U18 Ontario squad that won gold at the Canadian U18 National Championships. Burr played her 2022-23 season for the Stony Creek Sabers 18U AA team (where she was the 2023 Esso Cup tournament MVP after recording 15 points (8g, 7a) in seven games) before jumping to the U22 team in her next year. During her season there, Burr put up 25 goals and 23 assists in just 40 games – a more than point per game average. Burr has also produced eight points in eight games so far this year for the U22 Stony Creek Sabers.

Linnea Natt och Dag, a 5'9" defenseman from Stockholm, Sweden was a member of Sweden's U-18 National team the past two seasons. In all, Natt och Dag has skated in 24 games at the international level where she has logged six goals and added seven assists for 13 points. Currently rostered with Djurgårdens IF of the SDHL for a second-straight year. Prior to that, the blueliner skated for SDE HF for two seasons (2020-21, 2021-22).

Pukala, a 5'9" forward from Arlington Heights, Illinois was a both a 2023 and 2024 U.S. Hockey Under-18 Select Player Development Camp selection, as well as a 2023 Festival participant where she played against Sweden.
