Max Plante Added to U.S. National Junior Team Preliminary Roster

University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey freshman forward Max Plante has been added by USA Hockey to the preliminary roster of its 2025 U.S. National Junior Team. The group will convene for a training camp at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich., from Dec. 16-17.

The Hermantown, Minn. native will join current Bulldog defenseman Adam Kleber, named to the initial roster announced last week. Players are auditioning for a spot on the final 25-player roster that will represent the United States in the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship Dec. 26, 2024 – Jan. 5, 2025, in Ottawa, Ontario.

Plante, the reigning National Collegiate Hockey Conference Rookie of the Week, missed 10 games for the Bulldogs after suffering an injury in the season opener against Bemidji State University back on Oct. 5. Since his return on Nov. 22, the rookie has scored two goals and added two assists for four points in four skates, and currently has six points in his first five games for UMD, including two multiple point outings.

One of three current Bulldogs invited to the 2024 USA Hockey World Junior Summer Showcase, Plante spent his two seasons before hitting the ice in Duluth with the NTDP.
