UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Competition

Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community.

A trio of University of Minnesota Duluth baseball players have earned All Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Awards this afternoon, with redshirt freshman Joey Flom earning Freshman of the Year honors and seniors Nathan Rosenberg and Troy Lynch earning All Conference Second Team honors.

Middle infielder Joey Flom becomes the first Bulldog to earn the NSIC Freshman of the Year award since Alex Wojciechowski in 2013. Flom currently sits second on the team in batting average this season (.373) over 134 total at bats, and has tallied 10 doubles, one triple, and three leadoff home runs.

Senior catcher Nathan Rosenberg earns his first all conference selection of his collegiate career. Rosenberg has tallied a .344 batting average over 160 total at bats this season, leading the team in total runs (46) and triples (30) while sitting at second on the team in hits (55), home runs (8), runs batted in (36), and total bases (93).

Senior first baseman Troy Lynch earns his first all conference selection of his collegiate career as well. Lynch leads the Bulldogs this season in almost every offensive statistic, including overall batting average (.390), on base plus slugging (1.139), hits (62), home runs (9), runs batted in (47), and total bases (102).

Bulldog baseball returns to action tomorrow night for a matchup with the Wayne State College Wildcats in the opening round of the NSIC tournament. First pitch against the Wildcats is currently set for 6:00 PM.
