Team captaincy assignments are generally reserved for upperclassmen and other seasoned veterans who have paid their dues.
But what second-year Bulldog
Andrew Carroll lacks in experience, he makes up for in leadership and that is why the Shoreview, Minn., native is serving as a University of Minnesota Duluth co-captain in 2006-07 -- the first sophomore in over a half a century to take on that prestigious role.
Carroll, who received the 2005-06 Goldie Wolfe Award as UMD's most inspirational player after amassing the third highest goal harvest (13) of any Bulldog, got off to a sluggish start offensively this fall, but hopefully has now found his groove (he's picked up three points in his last two outings) as he and his puckmates wrap up the first half of their 2006-07 regular season schedule.
