So much for the element of surprise. The University of Minnesota Duluth's
Kaisa Ranki was named the North Central Conference's Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals in her first collegiate game.
Ranki, a freshman forward from Leppaloski, Finland, made her sniping debut last Thursday against Southwest Minnesota State. The freshman had two goals in just the first 99 seconds of play, and despite playing only the first 45 minutes of the game, peppered the SMSU goaltending staff with eight shots. Ranki's four tally's tied a UMD record set in 1995 by
Erika Ludwig.
Ranki and the rest of her Bulldog teammates make their first appearance at home on Griggs Field tomorrow night when they take on Concordia-St. Paul. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
