2013 NSIC Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams

The University of Minnesota Duluth is well-represented in the 2013 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference selections as it prepares for an NSIC/US Bank Soccer Tournament semifinal match with Winona State University.

UMD's leading scorers, junior forward Maureen Stormont and senior forward Dani Potter, each received First Team All-NSIC honors. Stormont finished the regular season with 29 points and 12 goals, good for second in the conference. Potter finished with 27 points and 10 goals and also added another in the Bulldogs' 2-0 win over Bemidji State in the conference quarterfinals.

A pair of junior defenders, Kelli Klun and Megan Helberg, made the third team in the NSIC. Klun netted three goals from the backline in 2013 and Helberg added one of her own while UMD held opponents to fewer than 10 shots per game. Another junior defender, Riley Allen, received an All-NSIC Honorable Mention. She scored a pair of goals on the year, including the game-winner in the regular season finale against Minnesota-Crookston.

Minnesota State Mankato's Korey Kronforst, a sophomore, received the NSIC Offensive Player of the Year nod with 17 goals and 37 points to lead the conference. The Bulldogs will have to deal with the conference's Defensive Player of the Year in Winona State's senior defender Rebecca McCoy in Friday's second round meeting. Southwest Minnesota's freshman goalkeeper Brienna Dehkes recorded eight shutouts in NSIC play this season to earn Goalkeeper of the Year while her coach, T.J. Buchholz, received the conference's Coach of hte Year nod. Upper Iowa's junior forward Aimee Wronski rounds out the awards field as the league's newcomer of the year.

The Bulldogs earned their first regular season victory over Winona State in ten seasons in 2013, defeating the Warriors by a 2-1 final at Malosky Stadium earlier this season. Stormont scored both goals for UMD while sophomore goalkeeper Marissa Rosa made four key saves to keep the Bulldogs' lead in tact. Winona's defense stood tall, allowing just five shots on net, the third fewest by UMD all year. WSU has won 13 straight since falling at UMD on Sept. 22.

Friday's match is set to kick off at 11:00 a.m. on Friday afternoon at top-seeded Minnesota State University Mankato. The second match-up will pit the host Mavericks against the fourth seed, Upper Iowa University. The winners will meet on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Mankato for the NSIC Championship and with an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament at stake.
