Megan Helberg were each named to the Daktronics All-Central Region First Team, announced Monday, and will be eligible for the All-America ballot. Additionally, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its Team Academic Awards for 2013-14 with UMD among the honorees.
Stormont scored 15 goals (16th-most in the nation) and three assists to lead the conference in goals per game (0.833) and points per game (1.83) and finish ranked 15 and 22 in the nation. As previously noted, she finished her career with the most goals and points in Bulldog history thanks to her 33-point performance in 2014.
Helberg played all over the field for UMD but primarily as a defender, scoring the second-most points on the team with three goals and four assists. UMD produced shutouts in 44 percent of its matches thanks in large part to its defense that allowed just 7.95 shots on goal and 1.18 goals per game.
Southwest Baptist University junior forward Karla Jamison was named the region's Player of the Year. The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association led the region with 15 total all-region selections. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference had seven all-region performers, and the Great American Conference collected the final five spots.
