Another meet. Another title for the University of Minnesota Duluth.
The Bulldogs made it a perfect four-for-four in team championships this fall by winning the Bob Waxlax Invitational for a second consecutive time. Seven schools, all from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, participated in the 6K event, which was held at the Wapicada Golf Course in Sauk Rapids, Minn., and hosted by St. Cloud State University.
Hannah Palmer of Southwest Minnesota State University took individual honors, clocking in at 21:18.8, but the next three finishers were Bulldog All-Americans -- junior
Breanna Colbenson (21:24.9), sophomore
Emi Trost (21:35.9) and senior
Hannah Olson (21:53.0). Senior
Erica Seidenkranz was seventh overall (22:17.2) and freshman
Allyson Girard took eighth (22:20.9) in the 76-runner race. That gave the Bulldogs a team score of 24 points, well ahead of runnerup Winona State University (53 pts.). Minnesota State University-Mankato (83 pts.), St. Cloud State University (124 pts.) and Southwest Minnesota State University (133 pts.) rounded out the top five.
UMD is now off until Oct. 24, when it will trek to Falcon Heights, Minn., for the NSIC Championships. The Bulldogs lost the title in a tie breaker to Augustana University one year ago at the league meet after claiming the top prize in 2013.
