The University of Minnesota Duluth women's track and field team came away with six first-place finishes at Saturday's Lake Superior Challenge at the College of St. Scholastica and highlighting that harvest was a school-record distance medley relay team.
That unit, comprised of junior
Breanna Colbenson, freshman
Michaela Hesse, senior
Hannah Olson and sophomore
Emilee Trost, clocked in at 11:43.32. That eclipsed the previous school mark of 11:44.88, set at the 2015 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships last March and is the fastest time in the nation at the moment. It also was a Burns Wellness Fieldhouse record.
Other winners included freshman
Danielle Kohlwey in the 60-meter hurdles (8.97), freshman
Megan Stuart in the 1,000-meter run (3:08.31), sophomore
Rachelle LeBlanc in the pole vault (10'-4"), freshman
Elizabeth Brunner in the triple jump (37'-3") and senior
Lydia Kingsley in the weight throw (52'-0").
UMD will compete in a couple of meets next weekend, with a select group of Bulldogs taking part in either the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic or the Yellowjacket Open at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
