The Bulldogs (3-2) fell behind AU (4-2) after a lead-off single, a double and a three-run home run put AU up 3-0. The Eagles would add one in the second, and three more in the third after their second three-run home run of the game to put them up 7-0.

UMD used a rotation of five pitchers Tuesday afternoon. Starting pitcher junior Adam Hallberg had a rough outing, allowing seven runs on seven hits and a pair of walks. Relievers freshman Kaylan Legred and sophomore Kole Zuidmulder combined for 2.2 scoreless innings while striking out six - five from Zuidmulder.

Senior designated hitter Greg Ludwig, who smacked the three-run home run in the first inning, added another three-run home run in a five-run sixth inning. The Eagles added one more in the seventh, and one more in the eighth to wrap up their win over the Bulldogs.

Freshman center fielder Henry George and junior Eric Yachinich combined for four of UMD's six hits.

UMD will play its only double header day of the Invite Wednesday (March 7) with its first game coming against the University of Findlay (3-2) at 9:30 a.m. (CST), and its second against Tiffin University (1-4) at 12:30 p.m. (CST). Both games will be played in Winter Haven, Fla.

The Bulldogs will wrap up their Invite play against the Malone University Pioneers (5-4) on Thursday at 8:15 a.m. (CST). MU has won five straight games after starting 0-4.
