The No. 3 University of Minnesota Duluth took on UMary on Friday evening for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match-up. The Bulldogs improve to 12-1 (5-0 in the NSIC) on the year, sweeping UMary in straight sets 25-15, 25-12, 25-15.

UMD would outpace the Marauders, swinging at a .368 clip for the evening. UMary would finish at a .020 clip.

In the first set, the two teams were in a tight battle, staying fairly even throughout the first 14 points, with the score coming to 8-6 Bulldogs. UMD would find their groove, and start hammering it home. The Bulldogs would go on a 17-9 rally and finish out the set with a final score of 5-15.

In the second set, UMD would come out of the gate hot, rattling a 7-3 rally to start the set. The Marauders would be able to chip a few points away of that lead, and eventually bringing the score to 10-7 before the Bulldogs would again start to rattle points off. UMD would bring the score to 18-11 and UMary took a timeout in an attempt to find their footing. The Bulldogs would end up giving up only one point out of the timeout, taking the set 25-12.

The final set saw more of an early battle as the two teams would stay tight and find themselves at a 6-6 tie. UMD would then take the lead and not look back as they would two separate four point rallies and a five point rally to eventually take the set with a final score of 25-15.

Sophomore outside hitter
Meredith Sutton would finish the evening swinging at a .353 clip, hammering eight kills and collecting two blocks along the way. Sophomore defensive specialist
Sydney Lanoue finished the evening with eight digs. Junior outside hitter
Kate Berg would finish with a match high 19 kills, swinging at a .444 clip and rattling 19.5 points with one block. Senior defensive specialist Kenna Seiffert would finish the match with 17 digs, gaining an ace and assist along the way. Senior setter
Emily Balts finished the match dishing out 37 assists, rattling off a kill and a block, as well as seven digs. Senior right side hitter
Hanna Meyer swiped six kills, swinging at a .364 pace and adding a dig as well. Senior Middle Blocker
Abby Thor finished with seven kills, swinging at a .636 clip and gaining two blocks as well.

The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow at noon, squaring off against Minot State in Minot, ND.
