Box Score The University of Minnesota Duluth traveled to Minot State on Saturday afternoon, taking on the Beavers in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchup. The Bulldogs improve to 13-1 (6-0 in the NSIC) on the year, sweeping the Beavers 25-20, 25-19, 25-15.

UMD outpaced the Beavers, hitting at a .275 clip for the match while Minot State struck at a .093 pace for the day.

In the first set, the Bulldogs started off by grabbing the first three points and hopping out to an early 3-0 lead. The Beavers would keep pace and stay close to UMD, bringing the score to 12-10. The Bulldogs would be able to start a rally and take a commanding lead at 15-11 before Minot State would take a timeout. After coming out of the timeout, the two teams would match points before head coach
Jim Boos would take a timeout at 19-15. UMD would then take a 3-1 rally before the Beavers would use their second timeout at 22-16. The teams would trade points before Minot would nab two points in a row and the Bulldogs would take their second timeout at 24-20. UMD would close out the set at 25-20.

The second set saw the two teams battle for the first few points, eventually bringing the score to 6-5 before the Bulldogs would pull ahead to 10-5 before the Beavers took a timeout. UMD would come out of the timeout, firing on all cylinders and taking five straight points, forcing another Minot State timeout. The two teams would trade points until the Bulldogs rattled off three straight. The Beavers would drop in three points before UMD would take their first timeout of the set at 21-13. Minot would chip points away but not before the Bulldogs would close out the set 25-19.

In the final set, the Beavers would rally three straight points and take the lead. UMD would find their footing, and rattle off four straight to take the lead. The two teams would battle back and forth for the next few points before the Bulldogs would hammer four home and take a 11-9 lead, forcing Minot to take a timeout. After the timeout, UMD would go on an 8-3 rally, bringing the score to 19-12 and the Beavers again would take a timeout. The Bulldogs would go on to put together a 6-3 rally and finish out the set 25-15.

Brooke Scheurer finished the match with one kill, one dig and a block. Sophomore middle blocker
Summer Ballard would finish with three kills on the day. Junior outside hitter
Kate Berg finished with a match high 11 kills, swinging at a .320 clip on the day, adding 13 digs and three blocks. Junior middle blocker
Lexy Langenfeld would finish with seven kills and five blocks on the day. Senior defensive specialist
Keena Seiffert would finish with 16 digs, adding three assists and an ace along the way. Senior Setter
Emily Balts would dish out 35 assists, adding a kill, three digs and an ace along the way. Senior outside hitter
Hanna Meyer would finish with eight kills, swinging at a .375 clip and garnering two blocks on the day. Senior middle blocker

The Bulldogs are back in action next weekend, playing host to Northern State on Oct. 11 (6:00 PM), then take on MSU Moorhead on Oct. 12 (4:00 PM). Both matches will take place in Romano Gym in Duluth, Minn.
