The University of Minnesota Duluth's women's basketball team took to the court on Friday evening, playing an exhibition against the Bethel University Royals. UMD came out on top, 81-63.

The Bulldogs went 29-49 on the night, shooting at a 59.2%. Bethel went 24-53, shooting just 45.3% from the field. UMD would finish with 25 rebounds and 14 three's on the evening.

The first half saw action right from the get go, as the Bulldogs would hop out to an early lead, with junior guard
Ann Simonet making the first three on the year. The Bulldogs saw the lead and ran with it through the first quarter, UMD making 27 in the first, Bethel with just 11. The Bulldogs picked up right where they left off in the second quarter, scoring five early to the Royals two. UMD would shoot at a 54.5 % rate in the second quarter, while Bethel would shot at a 40 percent rate. UMD would drop 15 in the quarter while the Royals would put up 12, bringing the score to 42-23 at half.

The second half would open up with a Bulldog two coming from Simonet. UMD wouldkeep the gas on the pedal, but Bethel would stick right there with the Bulldogs for the third quarter, with the two teams breaking even, dropping 20 a side. The Royals shot at a 53.8% rate in the third quarter, dead even with the Bulldogs. UMD was up 62-43 at the end of the third quarter. The Bulldogs tried to outpace Bethel in the final quarter, but the Royals would outscore UMD in the final stretch, putting up another 20 quarter, while the Bulldogs would only drop in 19. Each side would shot 7-14 from the floor.

Maesyn Thiesen would drop in three, making two 3-pointers and grabbing two rebounds. Junior forward
Sarah Grow would shoot 7-7, grabbing four rebounds and dropping 16 points. Junior guard
Ann Simonet would go 4-6 on the night, putting in one 3, grabbing four rebounds and putting up nine points. Junior guard/forward
Payton Kahl would go 5-6, making two 3's, and picking up four rebounds. Senior guard
Taylor Schneider would nab three baskets, grabbing four rebounds and two assists. Senior forward
Katie Stark would finish the evening shooting 6-11, dropping six 3's In the victory.

The Bulldogs are back action on Monday, playing host to the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets at 5:30PM at the Romano Gynasium.
