Today the University of Minnesota Duluth Baseball team welcomed the Augustana Vikings to town for a mid-week double-header at Wade Stadium in Duluth. UMD dropped both games to the Vikings as their record falls to 5-14 and 3-12 in the NSIC.

Alex Wattermann was on the bump in the first game for the Bulldogs. Augustana jumped out to an early lead in the first inning as they scored their first two runs of the game scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI single. UMD would score a run in the bottom of the third inning courtesy of a

Dayo Lawal. Augustana would continue to cushion their lead as they added three runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth inning, and two in the seventh inning. Augustana would walk in the Bulldogs final run of game one in the bottom of the seventh bringing us to our final score of 10-2. Wattermann was charged with the loss his second of the season.

Aaron Wukmir towed the slab in game number two for UMD. UMD jumped out to an early lead in game number two of the day, Alex Watterman knocked a base hit into left field scoring
Anders Brown as the Bulldogs grabbed a 1-0 lead. Augustana would come right back in the top half of the second as they brought a run home on an RBI double. The Bulldogs would again bring runs home in the bottom half of the second as
Brandt Kolpack punched a single to left field which scored two UMD runners as UMD took a 3-1 lead after two. UMD would continue to pad their lead in the bottom of the third as
Tyler Peterson singled home Wattermann for a 4-1 lead. The Bulldog lead however would not hold, as Augustana would tie the game with two runs in the fourth inning to bring them within one at 4-3. The Vikings would take the lead for good in the top of the fifth as they plated five in the inning grabbing a five-run lead when all was said and done. Augustana would add two runs in the sixth and a single run in the seventh go get us to our final score of 13-4. Wukmir was charged with the loss his second of the season, and Evan Furst was credited with the win, his first of the season.

The Bulldogs will continue to enjoy their lengthy home stand as they welcome the Wayne State Wildcats to Wade Stadium this Saturday and Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 and 4:00 PM on Saturday and Noon on Sunday.
