Today the University of Minnesota Duluth Baseball team welcomed the Beavers from Minot State University for a NSIC Saturday double-header. The two games were played at Bulldog Park from the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth, the first time that the Bulldogs have played a true home game in 728 days. The Bulldogs however would drop two close games to the Beavers by score of 9-7 in game one and 7-5 in game two.

Game one started off slow with pitching and defense being the dominant theme through the first three full innings, from then on the script flipped as offense took control and would take control the rest of the game. Minot State and UMD would swap turns scoring three runs in their offensive fourth innings. A
Brodie Paulson RBI single and
Trevor Gustafson's 2RBI single would tie the game 3-3 for UMD. Three runs in the 5
th and two runs in the top of the sixth would allow the Beavers to stretch their lead to 8-3. That was until the Bulldogs would answer in the bottom half of the sixth inning. 2RBI singles from
Henry George and
Anders Brown would bring the Bulldogs to within one run at 8-7 but that is as close as they would get. The Beavers would add an insurance run via a solo homer in the top of the 7
th to bring us to our final score of 9-7.
Ben Shepard would be credited with the loss moving his record to 2-5. RJ Martinez was credited with the win for the Beavers his third of the season.

Game two had the same offense as game one, things just got going a lot faster in the second game. Minot State and UMD would both get on the board in the first inning. UMD would score a run via an error and a
McCale Peterson sacrifice fly and RBI and enjoy a 2-1 lead after one. The Beavers would then proceed to pour it on offensively as they scored the next six runs to give them a 7-2 lead. The Bulldogs would fight back in the bottom of the fifth as they scored three runs of their own thanks to a time Pokornowski solo shot to left, a
McCale Peterson RBI double and
Alex Wattermann RBI single which cut the Beaver lead to only two but that is all the UMD offense could muster as the game ended in favor of Minot State by a score of 7-5.
