BIG OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE PROPELS BULLDOGS TO BIG HOME WIN, IMPROVE TO 15-0

Duluth, Minn. – Redshirt Junior Drew Blair reached his 1,000th-point tonight thanks to a 2nd half layup tonight. Blair reached this benchmark in just 58 games in his Bulldog career.
 
The No. 5/6 Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs hosted the Concordia St. Paul Golden Bears on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs never trailed in this game as they handled the Golden Bears 106-71. The Bulldogs remain undefeated and improved to 15-0 on the season.
 
The Bulldogs offense started out hot as they managed to jump out to an early 16-5 lead in the first half. From there, the Bulldogs continued to build momentum as they slowly built their lead in the first half. The Bulldogs built up to as many as a 22-point lead in the first half as they controlled the game. After a short run to close out the half from the Golden Bears, Drew Blair hit a three pointer right at the halftime buzzer to give the Bulldogs a 51-34 halftime lead. Austin Andrews had a big first half with 17 points followed by 10 points from Drew Blair. The Bulldogs shot 22-39 from the field and 5-11 from three-point range in the first half.
 
In the second half, the Bulldogs started the half strong once again as they built their lead back up to 24 points. From there, the Bulldogs maintained their large lead throughout the rest of the game. Freshman Joshua Strong had a big 2nd half as the scored 12 points in the half. The Bulldogs were able to get a balanced attack in the second half from all available players as the game was well out of hand. 10 players scored on the night for the Bulldogs in their blowout win. The Bulldogs offense stayed hot as they shot 19-36 from the field and 3-9 from three-point range in the second half.
 
The Bulldogs were led by Austin Andrews who had 22 points on the night. Joshua Strong added 16 points off the bench for the Bulldogs while Charlie Katona added 16 points. Andrews led the team with 8 rebounds while Drew Blair and Charlie Katona also added 7 rebounds each. Jack Middleton led the team with 6 assists while Andrews added 5 assists of his own. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 41-75 (54.7%) from the field and 8-20 (40%) from three-point range. They also shot 16-21 from the free throw line on the night.
 
The Golden Bears were led by Elijah Ormiston who had 21 points on the night. Orminston also led the team with 10 rebounds. Jack Stensgard led the team with 4 assists on the night. Overall, the Golden Bears shot 27-69 (39.1%) from the field and 10-25 (40%) from three-point range. They also shot 7-11 from the foul line.
 
Who's Next:
The No. 5/6 Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs will be back on the road next weekend as they travel to face off against Winona State on Friday January 14th at 5:30 pm. They will then travel to face off against No. 19 Upper Iowa on Saturday January 15th at 3:30 PM. This will be the Bulldogs second top 25 matchup of the season.
