BASEBALL DROPS PAIR OF GAMES TO THE VIKINGS

Sioux Falls, SD – The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs traveled to face off against the Augustana Vikings on Thursday afternoon. The Bulldogs would lose both games as they lost game one 14-5 and lost game two 9-2. 

Game One: 
After a scoreless top of the first from the Bulldogs, the Vikings got the scoring started in the bottom of the first as a throwing error by the Bulldogs brought across two runs. The Vikings continued the scoring as they scored on a sacrifice fly and a single in the first to take a 4-0 lead. The Vikings continued their strong start on the offensive end in the bottom of the second as they managed to score 4 more runs in the inning off a pair of singles and another sacrifice fly. The Bulldogs would be held scoreless once again in the 3rd inning as the Vikings added to their lead with a two-run home run to take a 10-0 lead after 3 innings. After a scoreless 4th inning, the Bulldogs finally got on the board in the top of the 5th inning as Jack Puder homered to right field to make it a 10-1 game. The Vikings responded with a three-run home run in the bottom of the 5th to extend their lead to 13-1. Austin Gordon drove in two runs off a single in the 6th inning to cut the Bulldogs deficit to 14-3. After another run by the Vikings in the bottom of the 6th, the Bulldogs added two more runs in the bottom of the 7th inning on a pair of sacrifice flies from Brodie Paulson and Jack Puder

Jack Puder and Austin Gordon both went 2-3 in game one and both tallied 2 RBI's on the day. Brodie Paulson also drove in a run in the game. The Vikings Even Furst got the victory after 4.1 innings and allowing just one earned run. The Bulldogs Alex Sturnieks picked up the loss after one inning pitched and 2 earned runs. 

Game two: 
After a scoreless first inning, the Vikings got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with a single through the left side of the infield. The Vikings got on the board once again in the bottom of the fourth as a triple and a double brought in a pair of runs as the Vikings took a 3-0 lead. The Vikings continued their strong offensive day as they added a three-run home run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Another double in the bottom of the 6th added another run for the Vikings to make it a 7-0 lead going into the 7th inning. The Bulldogs got a pair of runs on the board as Tim Pokornowski homered to left center field and Sam Tanner doubled to right center to bring in Brodie Paulson. From there, the Vikings added two more runs in the bottom of the 8th inning as they went on to win 9-2. 

Sam Tanner and Tim Pokornowski drove in the only two Bulldogs runs in the game as 6 different batters tallied a hit in the game. The Vikings Tony Lanier received the win after going 5.1 innings and not allowing a run. Chad Fox piced up the loss for the Bulldogs after going 4.0 innings and allowing 3 runs.
