BASEBALL DROPS DOUBLEHEADER TO THE GOLDEN EAGLES

Duluth, Minn. -- The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs hosted the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles in a doubleheader on Thursday morning. After dropping game one 5-2, the Bulldogs lost game two 10-5.

Game One:
The Golden Eagles got the scoring going in the first inning as the scored on a solo home run to left center field. They scored again in the top of the second inning as they scored two runs on a two-run home run. They scored another run on a single to center field to take a 4-0 lead. The Bulldogs responded in the bottom of the second by a double douwn the left field line to score Tim Pokornowski. The Goldne Eagles scored on another solo home run in to the top of the fourth inning to take a 5-1 lead. The Bulldogs attempted a late rally in the bottom of the seventh inning as Tim Pokornowski singled in a run to score Tosten Mann to make it 5-2. The Bulldogs late rally fell short as the Bulldogs lost 5-2. 

Tosten Mann, Tim Pokornowski, Brodie Paulson, Alex Wattermann and Sam Tanner all tallied two hits in game one. Pokornowski and Paulson both drove in a run on the day. The Bulldogs left 10 batters on base in game one. Aaron Wukmir got the start for the Bulldogs and went 4.0 innings and gave up 6 hits and 4 earned runs. Jake Dykhoff got the win for the Golden Eagles and gave up 10 hits and 2 earned runs in 6.1 innings. 

Game Two: 
The Golden Eagles once again got the scoring started early as they scored three runs in the top of the first inning, thanks to a single to left field, followed by a home run to left center field to take a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs responded in the bottom of the first inning as Tosten Mann hit a two-run home run to left center field to make it a 3-2 score. Minnesota Crookston responded in the top of the second as they scored two more runs, thanks to a solo home run to left field followed by a RBI single. They increased their lead again in the top of the 3rd inning as they scored on a RBI single to left field to take a 6-2 lead. The Bulldogs scored again in the bottom of the fourth inning as Alex Wattermann singled through the left side of the infield as Tim Pokornowski scored. But the Golded Eagles responded once again as they scored three more runs in the top of the 5th inning to take a 9-3 lead. Brodie Paulson responded in the bottom of the fifth inning with a two-RBI double to centerfield that scored Tim Pokornowski and Tosten Mann to cut it to a 9-5 deficit. The Bulldogs would not be able to cut into the Golden Eagles lead as they lost 10-5 in game two. 

Brandt Kolpack went 3-5 in game two with a run, while Tosten Mann went 3-5 with a home run, two-RBI, and 2 runs. Brodie Paulson tallied two RBI's in game two, while Alex Wattermann also tallied a RBI. Eric Hinnenkamp got the start for the Bulldogs and went just 1.0 innings. Jake Osowski went 6.0 innings for the Golden Eagles and gave up 11 hits and 4 earned runs over 6.0 innings. 

Who's Next: 
The Buldogs will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to face Northern State in a three-game series.
