The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer team is set for another weekend of games, visiting Minnesota State University Moorhead on Friday and Northern State University on Sunday.
Â
The Bulldogs enter this week on a high, shutting Minot State out 1-0 on Sunday, thanks to a first half penalty kick goal from Miriam Marsan and a 10-save performance from Jennifer Norris.Â

MSU Moorhead
Â
UMD AND MSUM last played each other on Oct. 21, 2022, a 2-1 victory for the Bulldogs. In their last nine matchups, UMD has won eight times and tied once. Five of those wins were shutouts.Â
Â
The Dragons have a 1-3-4 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (2-6-4 overall) this season. A win for MSUM would move them ahead in conference standings.
Â
Seniors Tabea Czech and Ava Kieser lead the Dragons with four points each, both recording a goal and two assists.Â
Â
MSUM has primarily stationed Simon Lewald in net, playing her in ten of the team's 12 games so far this season. She has made 65 saves and allowed an average 0.90 goals per game.Â
Â
Only two of the Dragons games have had more than two total goals. The Bulldogs have had double the goals and overall had higher scoring games. Offensive powerhouses and scoring leaders Anna Tobias and Jackie Jares could make the difference.
Â
UMD takes on MSUM Friday, Oct. 13 in Moorhead at 3 p.m.

Northern State
Â
The Bulldogs faced off against the Wolves earlier this season, in a non-conference game on Sunday, Sept. 10 that ended in a 3-1 win. UMD scored two of their goals off penalty kicks, one each for Anna Tobias and Jackie Jares, and finished with a second goal from Jares.Â
Â
Since then, NSU has won or tied every game played. With a 5-0-3 NSIC record, they are tied for second in the conference.Â
Â
The Wolves have favored junior goaltender Alexus Townsend this season, starting her in all 11 games so far. She's only allowed eight goals this season, for an average of 0.73 per game.Â
Â
Junior Megan Fastenau is the clear point and goal leader for the Wolves (5-2-12), tripling any of her teammates in points and out-scoring the runner up by three goals. She's scored in NSU's last three games. The Bulldogs defense stopped her from scoring earlier this season and they'll likely need to do it again to keep themselves in Sunday's game.
Â
UMD and NSU kick off at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15 in Aberdeen, SD.
