GABBY KRAUSE HANGS UP HER SKATES: Senior forward Gabby Krause announced last week that she has decided to medically retire from hockey.
Here is Krause's statement regarding her decision: "Dear hockey You've given me more than I ever could have imagined. You gave me unforgettable memories, lifelong friends, and the strength to overcome challenges on and off the ice. You'll always be a part of me. I'll carry the lessons and experiences you gave me for the rest of my life. To my parents, coaches and trainers I can't thank you enough for everything you've done throughout my hockey journey. From the countless hours spent at the rink, to the sacrifices, guidance, and constant support, you've all been there for me through every goal, injury, and challenge. Having to medically retire is something I never wanted to face. But I know this is the right decision for my health and career. Still, that doesn't make this goodbye any easier. Thank you to everyone who has made this sport so special for me."
Head coach Laura Schuler on Krause: "We have been so fortunate to have such an amazing person and hockey player be apart of our program. Gabby's passion for excellence in all areas of her life has had such a profound impact on all aspects of UMD women's hockey.
