Sunday on the Athletic and Recreation Field at 1:00 p.m.
WEEKEND PREVIEW:
vs. Jamestown: The Bulldogs and Jimmies will meet for the first time in their histories on Friday, made possible by Jamestown's new membership into the NSIC this season. Currently, the Jimmies are 2-11-1 overall and 2-9-1 in conference play with wins over the University of Minnesota Crookston (1-0) and Southwest Minnesota State University (4-1). Jamestown did post an impressive 0-0 tie against Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D. last Friday.
The Jimmies are led by Vega Canada, who has six points on a team-high three goals.
vs. Northern State: UMD owns a dominant 19-4-3 record against the Wolves all-time and are 6-2-2 against NSU over the past 10 games. More recently, the Bulldogs will be looking for their first win over the Wolves in three games – in the three matches the two sides have played in dating back to Oct. 15, 2023, UMD is winless (0-2-1) in those three games.
Last season UMD faced the Wolves twice, including a nonconference head-to-head in Aberdeen on Sept. 15, a 2-0 loss. On Oct. 18, 2024, in NSIC play, the Bulldogs suffered a 2-1 setback. All three goals were scored in the last 33 minutes, and after Gwendolyn Lilly equalized in the 79th minutes, the Wolves scored a game-winner with just over four minutes left to seal the win. UMD had a whopping 8-1 advantage on corner kicks, but outshot UMD 10-8 overall and 7-3 on goal.
Currently, NSU is 5-7-3 overall and 5-4-3 in conference play. The Wolves defeated Wayne State University in Wayne, Neb. last Friday 2-1 before suffering a 2-1 loss to Augustana on Sunday in Sioux Falls. Chloe Voss leads all scorers with 10 points this season on five goals, while Jaylee Hofer has posted three goals and three assists for nine points.
LAST TIME OUT: The Bulldogs settled for a 1-1 tie last Friday night in James S. Malosky Stadium with Winona State University after freshman midfielder Nora Helvig drew UMD even in the 61st minute. The Warriors outshot UMD 8-3 on goal while the Bulldogs owned a 8-6 corner kick advantage. Kaycee Chavez made seven saves for UMD in the loss.
Sunday, Concordia University, St. Paul scored off a set piece at the 25:04 mark and held UMD off the scoreboard, for a 1-0 win. The Golden Bear shelled the Bulldogs 20-6 and 12-4 in shots on goal, while also owning a 6-3 corner kick advantage. Chavez was again big for the Bulldogs, making 11 saves on the day, just a single save behind her career best effort at UMD.
