UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Competition

Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community. 

University of Minnesota Duluth senior goaltender Kaycee Chavez was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Goaltender of the Week Monday afternoon after her two shutout performance over the weekend.


The native of Eagle River, Alaska recorded two shuts in 180 minutes of time, helping the Bulldogs defeat Michigan Tech University 1-0 and and tie Northern Michigan University 0-0. Chavez had eight saves total over the weekend -- two each day -- en route to the longest shutout streak of her UMD career.


Chavez's current shutout streak is its longest since UMD rolled three-straight shutouts over the 2023 season from Sept. 17 through Sept. 24.


The Bulldogs will open up the home portion of the season this Friday night at James S. Malosky Stadium against Bemidji State University. Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
