The University of Minnesota Duluth and Red Rock Radio announced today the expansion of Red Rock Radio's Bulldog Radio Network for 2014-15. Starting with UMD's football season on Sept. 6, all UMD football and men's hockey games will be carried on five different radio stations.Â
Joining the Bulldog Sports Radio Network are new Red Zone Sports Radio stations WHSM-AM 910 (Hayward, Wis.) and WCMP-AM 1350 (Pine City, Minn.).
"With the launch of the Red Zone Sports Radio Network we now have opportunities such as adding affiliates to our existing UMD play-by-play coverage," said Shawn Skramstad, President of Red Rock Radio.
Â
UMD football will continue to air on KQDS-AM ("The Fan 1490") while men's hockey will stay on KZIO-FM ("94X"). All football and men's hockey games air throughout northeastern Minnesota on KBAJ-FM out of Deer River/Grand Rapids ("KQ 105.5") and KAOD-FM in the Ely/Babbitt area ("KQ 106.7").
Â
"We are very pleased with the expansion of the Bulldog Radio Network for UMD men's hockey and football so that we can reach even more of Bulldog Country as we chase championships!", said UMD Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Josh Berlo.
Red Rock Radio has held the broadcast rights for UMD football and men's hockey since the 2009-2010 season.
"This expansion of our UMD radio network is a win-win for everyone involved," said Red Rock Radio Sports Director Bruce Ciskie, who is the voice of UMD men's hockey. "UMD football and hockey are contending teams nationally, and we hope our new audiences in Hayward and Pine City enjoy what they hear."
