It was a memorable day for University of Minnesota Duluth sophomore
Valerie Hohol, as she threw a no-hitter against the University of Minnesota Crookston in a five-inning, 9-0 win. It was the first no-hitter for the Bulldogs since Hohol's former teammate
Cayli Sadler tossed a no-no against Bemidji State on Feb. 22, 2016, in a six-inning, 1-0 loss. UMD would sweep UMC with a convincing 15-6 win in the rematch, moving them to third in the in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings - trailing only Winona State University and No. 14 Minnesota State University-Mankato.
UMD (28-10 overall; 12-2 NSIC) is now 6-4 following a loss, after starting the season 0-4 following a loss.
Hohol (W, 11-1) captained the mound in game one, walking just one while striking out a career-high eight batters. The Bulldogs wasted no time getting run support, putting up three runs in the first, one in the second, and five in the third against the Golden Eagles. Freshman left fielder

Becky Smith went 2-for-2 and would add three RBIs, a pair of walks, and a run to her season totals.

Natalie Wright, Smith, sophomore first baseman
Kalynn Tilton, and freshman third baseman
Lauren Oberle would each collect a pair of hits, and combine to drive in 12 of the Bulldog's 15 runs. Tilton, like Langbehn in the game before, would hit a pair of home runs; a three-run in the second, and a solo shot in the seventh. Freshman pitcher
Ashley Taipale got the nod in game two but would exit after allowing five runs in 2.1. Freshman
Breanna Swint would come in for relief and remain on the mound for the remainder of the game, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out five.
