The University of Minnesota Duluth men's indoor track squad took home a third-place finish on Friday afternoon at the Minnesota State Invitational. UMD racked up a total of 102 points and two first-place individual finishes to earn a podium spot.
"A solid effort for a smaller squad today with some impressive early season marks, especially in the middle distances and 3k, an area where we have some big goals, said Head Coach
Karly Brautigam. "Today was about finding the areas where we need to improve technically/tactically. We are excited to get back to work."
The Bulldogs got top performances in both the men's 1000 meter and the men's 3000 meter.
Christian Leonard tallied a time of 2:30.32 in the 1000 meter run to take the top spot. Additionally,
Jonathan Tostenson,
Finn Youberg, and
Jordan Gruenes finished second, third, and fourth in the 1000 meter run, respectfully. In the men's 3000 meter run,
Nick Jacobson posted a time of 8:35.77 to earn first-place, while
Matthew Trutna tallied a time of 8:43.17 to take second-place.
Minnesota State rolled off a total of 291.50 points to earn first-place at the meet. Gustavus Adolphus secured 133.50 points to take the second spot, while Wisconsin-Superior took third-place with 30 points.
