The University of Minnesota Duluth suffered its first loss of the PFX Athletic Spring Games Wednesday morning with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the University of Missouri-St. Louis but bounced back to derail Holy Family University Tigers later in the day.
UMD now moves to 8-6 on the season, having won seven of its last eight contests -- including a 7-1 mark in Clermont, Fla.

Sam Hartmann and the Tritons' Karly Kingery hooked up in a pitcher's duel to open the day, with Hartmann allow six hits and her counterpart giving up just three (including a pair of singles to sophomore outfielder
Sammi Sadler. Hartmann, who has allowed just two earned runs in her last three starts -- all at the PFX Athletic Spring games, also fanned four with no walks, but Missouri-St. Louis used a timely RBI hit in both the fourth and fifth innings en route to posting its 18th win in 24 games this season.
Against Holy Family (1-4), UMD pieced together three straight extra base hits in the second inning from from sophomore first baseman
Kalynn Tilton, freshman catcher Lex Janigo, and sophomore right fielder
Sammi Sadler to take a 2-0 lead. A RBI single from freshman left fielder
Jayme Langbehn in the third brought home sophomore shortstop
Becky Smith and the Bulldogs would then tack on two run more in the fourth, and one each in the fifth and sixth. HFU collected its only run in the bottom of the fifth inning off a RBI triple.
Next up for the Bulldogs are Thursday clashes against Hillsdale College (4-5) at 5 p.m. and Northwood University (7-7) at 7:30 p.m.
