In a rare Thursday Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader in Bemidji, Minn. (rescheduled from Feb. 18), the University of Minnesota Duluth went 1-1, blanking the University of Minnesota Crookston 9-0 before dropping a 7-2 decision to host Bemidji State University.
The Bulldogs, who were without the services of injured regulars 
Natalie Cahill and 
Isabel Thiner, won all six of their singles matches in straight sets against Minnesota Crookston. That included senior 
Jillian Klasen (at No. 5) and freshman 
Arielle Emerson at No. 6 -- both of home were competing in their first singles activity of the season.
In its loss to the Beavers, UMD got a singles triumph (in a tie breaker) from senior 
Katie Baasch at No. 5 while senior 
Shelby Benkofske and sophomore 
Megan Anderson won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.
The Bulldogs, now 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the NSIC, is off until March 17.
