BULLDOGS DROP FIRST GAME IN WEEKEND SERIES AGAINST THE DRAGONS

The University of Minnesota Duluth lost their first game of the weekend against Minnesota State University-Moorhead, 93-76. UMD falls to 2-2 overall (1-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference). MSU-Moorhead improves to 5-2 (5-0 NSIC).
 
The game started off with the Dragons shooting a scorching 65.4% (17-26) from the field and 50% (4-8) on 3-pointers in the first half while the Bulldogs shot 52% (13-25) from the field but only shot 25% (2-8) on 3-pointers. UMD also turned the ball over nine times in the first half, which the Dragons scored 17 points on. UMD forced eight turnovers and only scored 2 points from those picks.
 
Bulldogs went into the half trailing 44-31.
 
After halftime, UMD never came closer than nine points as the Dragon's cruised to their fifth straight victory.
 
Overall, UMD shot 49.1% (26-53) from the field, 25% (5-20) on 3-pointers, 67.9% (19-28) from the free throw line and were out rebounded by MSU-Moorhead 38-20. The Dragons shot 54.5% (30-55) from the field, 35% (7-20) on 3-pointers and 83.9% (26-31) from the free throw line.
 
Redshirt sophomore guard Drew Blair led the Bulldogs in scoring with 22 points, three assists and three rebounds. Freshman guard Joshua Brown finished with 19 points, two steals and four rebounds. Freshman forward Austin Andrews finished with 10 points, four rebounds and four assists and sophomore guard Jack Middleton finished with eight points, three rebounds and three assists. 
 
UMD will play the Dragons again tomorrow (Jan. 23) at 4pm in Romano Gymnasium.
