The University of Minnesota Duluth lost their third straight game as they lost to Minnesota State University-Moorhead, 103-95. This was the first time UMD has allowed 100 points in a game since 2019. UMD falls to 2-3 (1-3 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. MSU Moorhead improves to 6-2 overall (6-0 NSIC).
The Bulldogs started this game off looking a lot more competitive than they did in the first game of the series against MSU Moorhead, shooting 60.7% (17-28) from the field and 40% (4-10) on 3-pointers in the half. The Bulldogs had a 7-point lead with 5:10 left to play until the Dragons went on a 21-9 run to close out the first half. 10 of those points came from MSU Moorhead's sophomore forward Dane Zimmer (20 first half points).
UMD went into halftime trailing 46-51.
The second half came down to free throw shooting as there were 41 total foul calls in the second half (61 in the game total). The Dragons shot 76.6% (36-47) from the free throw, while UMD shot just 61.9% (26-42). Overall, the Bulldogs shot 49.2% (30-61) from the field and 37.5% (9-24) on 3-pointers while MSU Moorhead shot 53.7% (29-54) from the field and 42.9% (9-21) on 3-pointers.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play next weekend (Jan. 29 and 30) against Northern State in Aberdeen, SD.
