The University of Minnesota Duluth outscored Minot State University in every quarter as the Bulldogs bullied the Beavers to a 74-48 victory Friday evening at the Minot State Dome. They were led by sophomore forward
Sarah Grow who scored a game high 19 points, two points off her career high. Grow also had a game high seven rebounds and dished out three assists.
UMD improved to 3-1 on the season and moved to 2-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with the 26-point win, the largest of the season and largest margin of victory over Minot State in program history. Minot State fell to 5-3 and 0-2 in the NSIC.
The Bulldog offense was clicking as they shot a season high 49.1 percent and knocked down 10 three pointers, tying a season-high. Six different Bulldogs registered a three. Freshman guard
Maesyn Thiesen drained all three of her attempts as she provided UMD with an offensive spark off the bench with 11 points.
Grow and senior guard
Sammy Kozlowski got the team off to a fast start as the duo combined for 14 of the team's 17 points in the first quarter. They missed two of their eight attempts in the period.
UMD led 17-10 after the first and built on its lead in the second to take a 41-26 lead into the half. The 41 points was the most points scored in a half this season by the Bulldogs.
The Beavers shot 40.9 percent from the field but were unable to piece together any sustainable runs. UMD never let the lead fall under 17 points as it was able to rotate its bench players deep in the second half.

Maizie Deihl saw their first action of the season and freshmen
Lauren Miller and
Emma Schmidt collected their first collegiate minutes in the blowout. Deihl converted an and-one opportunity and Schmidt pulled down three boards.
The Bulldogs forced 20 turnovers including three shot clock violations. UMD scored 23 points off those turnovers.
UMD looks to extend its winning streak to three game tomorrow afternoon against the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D.
