Holds the distinction of being the lone Bulldog to ever capture two conference individual golf titles ... Finished first at 1967 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships after sharing the top spot one year earlier ... Qualified for two straight NAIA National Tournaments (1966 and 1967)...Went on to enjoy a successful run as an amateur golfer before receiving his PGA Class A professional membership (he was a member of the PGA Tour in 1982) ... Won the 1987 Wisconsin PGA Match Play Tournament and was the 2001 Wisconsin State Senior Open runnerup ... Spent nearly two decades serving as the PGA club professional at five different Wisconsin golf courses and another 12 years as the golf course director at the Willowbrook Country Club in Auburndale, Fla., before retiring in 2013 ... Was a UMD ski jumping lettermen as well ... Reigned as the U.S. National Ski Jumping champion in 1965 ... Competed for the U.S. at the 1964 Winter Olympics and, as that meet’s youngest ski jumper (18 years old), tied for 29th overall and was second among Americans ...Took first place in the Master’s division at the 1987 U.S. National Ski Jumping Championships ... Received the 1965 United States Ski Association's Beck Award for outstanding performance in international competition. (Other past winners include Lindsey Vonn, Picabo Street, Phil Mahre, Billy Kidd and 1995 UMD Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Gene Kotlarak) ... Is a member of the U.S. Ski Jumping Hall of Fame, the Eau Claire Ski Club Hall of Fame and the Duluth Denfeld High School Hall of Fame ... graduated from UMD with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in geography in 1974.
