Was a four-year basketball letterman and a starter his final two years at UMD ... led the Bulldogs in overall rebounding (5.6 rpg) and scoring in MIAC play in 1975-76 ... served as a team tri-captain during his senior year ... ranked first among Bulldogs in field goal percentage as both a freshman (.511) and as a senior (.533) ... named UMD's Most Valuable Rookie in 1973-74 ... graduated from UMD in 1975 with a Bachelor's degree in criminology ... was a member of the U.S. National Rowing Team from 1979-90 ... his rowing highlights include a silver medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics and 1991 Pan American Games, a gold medal at the 1986 Goodwill Games and a bronze medal at the 1986 World Championships ... coached the Monsignor Bonner High School rowing team for the over 16 years ... is a 1971 graduate of Duluth Cathedral High School.
