Was a four-year mainstay on the UMD blueline ... landed All-American and All-WCHA second team recognition in his farewell collegiate campaign ... still owns the Bulldogs single-season record for most goals by a defenseman (19), which he established in 1975-76 ... played for Team USA at the 1976 World Ice Hockey Championships in Poland ... began his 11-year professional hockey career with the Edmonton Oilers of the World Hockey Association and remained there until that league folded following the 1978-79 season ... was a WHA second team All-Star in 1978-79 ... played eight National Hockey League seasons with the New York Islanders (1979-85), the Minnesota North Stars (1985-86) and the Los Angeles Kings (1986-87) ... was a member of four Stanley Cup winners while with the New York Islanders (1980-83) ... skated in the 1983 NHL All-Star Game ... appeared in 513 lifetime NHL games and 220 WHA contests ... is one of just two Bulldogs to be chosen in both the NHL and WHA drafts  (New York Islanders-1974/Edmonton Oilers-1974) .... was nominated for the Bill Masterson Award for Dedication and Perseverance by the Islanders in 1984 and the North Stars in 1986 ... gained induction into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993 ... served as the General Manager/Coach of the St. Paul Fighting Saints of the now-defunct American Hockey Association in 1992-93 ... earned a B.S. degree in education from UMD in 1976.
