Was the first Bulldog (along with teammate Tom Lawrence) to attain All-Northern Intercollegiate Conference football status on three occasions, doing so from 1979 to 1981 ... Started four seasons (three at fullback and one at halfback) and exited the Bulldog program as its third all-time leading rusher with 2,630 yards on 501 carries ... Scored 15 touchdowns and 94 points in as a senior – the third highest total in NCAA II football – en route to being named to the Associated Press Little All-American Team (honorable mention) ... Anchored a punishing ground attack that propelled the Bulldogs to a 34-6 overall record, two NIC championships 1979 and 1980) and a school-record 20-game winning streak during his four-year career ... Paced the NIC in rushing in 1979 (en route to landing the first of two UMD Most Valuable Player Awards (the other coming two years later) ... Averaged a team-leading 6.1 yards per carry as a true freshman in 1978 ... Was part of a potent 1978 and 1980 Bulldog backfield that included another UMD Athletic Hall of Famer, Amory Bodin (Class of 2013) ... Is a native of Marble, Minn.
