Holds the distinction of being the first UMD athlete to have his/her jersey number (9) officially retired ... capped off a sparkling four-year hockey stint with the Bulldogs in 1966-67 by being named to both the NCAA hockey All-American and All-WCHA first teams (1967) ... became the first Bulldog to ever lead the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in scoring and be named the league's Most Valuable Player (1966-67) ... led UMD in scoring an unprecedented four consecutive years ... scored 196 points in just 102 games during his Bulldog career ... his 1.92 points her outing average ranks second on the all-time UMD  charts ... chosen the Bulldogs' Most Valuable Player as a freshman, junior and senior and was tabbed the club's Rookie of the Year in 1963-64 ... still owns a share of the UMD record for most points in a game (six) which he established against Minnesota on Nov. 19, 1966 in the first Bulldog game ever contested at the Duluth Arena ... recipient of the Minnesota-Duluth Outstanding Senior Athlete award in 1966-67 ... captain of the silver medal-winning United States Olympic Team at the 1972 Games in Sapporo, Japan ... played professional hockey with the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the World Hockey Association (1973-75) ... Fort Frances, Ontario, native.
