Helped elevate both the Bulldog men’s and golf programs to national prominence during his six years at the head coaching helm ... still owns the best winning percentage in UMD basketball history (.710 off a 121-49 record) ... guided his Bulldogs to at least a share of three Northern Intercollegiate Conference championships and four NAIA District 13 playoff appearances ... went 25-5 in 1983-84, setting what was then a team single-season record for basketball victories ... was a three-time NIC Coach of the Year award recipient for basketball ... captured a pair of NIC golf titles, four NAIA District 13 crowns and qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships five straight times (1979-84) .. coached UMD to a fifth-place finish -- the school’s highest national placing in any sport to that point -- at the 1980 NCAA II meet ... produced two All-Americans in basketball and three more in golf over the course of his stay at UMD ... resigned from UMD in March 1984 to become the head men's basketball coach at Cal Poly Pomona, where he spent the next three years ... was also inducted into the Manhattan College Hall of Fame in 2012 (he's a former Jasper golfer) ... the 1977-78 basketball team he coached at Northland College was recognized by that school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000 ...  is a native of Long Island, New York.
