    Athletic Director
Under Corran's watch, UMD athletics underwent significant changes, including creation of the Bulldog Club, the development of a strategic plan and reorganization for the department, the addition of women's ice hockey, and vast increases in both overall fundraising and scholarships. UMD collectively won three NCAA national championships, six Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Sports titles and 55 NSIC/Western Collegiate Hockey Association crowns in Corran's tenure. In 2002-03, UMD laid claim to 11 of a possible 13 conference titles, and earned its first NCAA Division II playoff berth in the 70-year history of its football program. Corran hired three coaches – Bob Nielson (football), Shannon Miller (women's hockey) and Scott Sandelin (men's hockey) – who would go on to capture all 10 of the school's team national titles to date.  Another hire – Jim Boos (volleyball)  – was the AVCA National Coach of the Year in 2004 and sports the fifth best career winning percentage in all of DII volleyball (.811).
