Was a two-way football starter for three seasons at UMD ... hauled in a then-school record 18 passes in 1960 en route to attaining All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team honors ... played on two MIAC title-winning teams (1960 and 1961) during his four-year collegiate football career ... captained the 1961 football Bulldogs and was an All-MIAC pick that fall ... also lettered twice in basketball at UMD ... was the recipient of UMD's Outstanding Senior Athlete Award for 1961-62 ... played two years with the UMD club volleyball team which participated in national tournament play ... served as a Bulldog assistant football coach for five seasons (1963 and 1965-68) ... received a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and in social studies from UMD in 1963.
