Put up some staggering numbers in his three seasons of mat activity at UMD ... Was a two-time NAIA All-American ... Amassed a 95-12-0 career record (including a perfect 22-0 mark in dual meets) with the Bulldogs after transferring to UMD from Gustavus Adolphus College ... Captured a pair of Northern Intercollegiate Conference 142-pound crowns (1988 and 1989) and placed third in that weight class at both the 1988 and 1989 NAIA National Championships ... Earned the Gorriaran Trophy for recording the most falls in the least time at the 1989 NAIA national meet ....Went 40-6-0 as a senior team captain and paced UMD with 20 pins after finishing 46-6-0 the previous winter ... Those 46 victories were unsurpassed by any 1988 Bulldog ... Was part of the NAIA-USA Cultural Exchange Team that competed against international competition late in the spring of his senior year ... Recipient of UMD’s Outstanding Senior Male Athlete Award for 1988-89 ... Remained at UMD the following year to serve as a student assistant wrestling coach ... Is a native of Staples, Minn.
