Seldom is the history of Bulldog basketball discussed without some mention of his name ... certainly was an "Iron Mike" of sorts while at UMD -- played in all 105 games during his four-year collegiate basketball career as Bulldogs posted a 79-26 overall record with one Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and three runner up finishes ... led UMD in scoring three straight seasons (1962-65) ... was an All-MIAC first team pick as both a junior and a senior ... held the Bulldog career scoring record for 26 years with 1,808 points --- now ranks second to Jay Guidinger in that department ... established school marks  in 1963-64 for points in a game (41) and a season (642), field goals for a season (255), and most games scoring 20 or more points in a season (22) ... graduated from UMD in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in geography ... played three years of professional basketball at the  international level ... is a native of Mahtomedi, Minn.
